an overdue update!

So i realize it has been way too long since I've sat down and blogged last! Not sure if anyone out there really even cares or not, but it's always good for me to sit down and remember all that's gone on in the past bit! We've had a great summer...at the lake, hiking in the mountains, biking the VA creeper, my birthday, celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, weekends of cousins coming to visit and especially at Pawleys for a week!

I could spend all my free time at the lake and this summer we got a new boat so it's made going out on the boat even sweeter! Willie has grown to love love love the water and swimming--which i love to watch him! He's still not a fan of actually jumping off the boat into the water but once he's in he's in heaven! We even got him his own float so he won't attack me to get on my float! =)

We went and hiked Gregory's Bald back in June with our friends Zach and Nicole and man was that harder than we thought! It was 11 miles round-trip and was pretty much straight up the mountain! The views were great when we got up and it seriously felt like we were in another world! The weather was actually cool at the top which was a nice change from the 10000% humidity that we hiked up in!

Also in June we rode the Virginia Creeper trail from Damascus to Abingdon, VA...a 34 mile trail to be exact! The weather was great and we had a great time--but the day after (and even that night!) Chris whined and cried about how sore his butt was from riding that long on the rental bike's seat! Wa wa wa...it's a good thing he doesn't have to give birth to our children bc i'm pretty sure we'd never have any! Watching him try to walk the next few days and even sit on the couch was quite entertaining!!!

My actual birthday I had to work (boo!) but got to play that weekend at the lake! Chris cooked a great dinner and even made me a strawberry bundt cake (shocker I know!) for a little dinner party with friends! It was Eli's first dinner party (he was only 6 weeks old!) but he did pretty good and kept Willie entertained! We ate at Bonefish grill with the family for my family celebration then came back here for cake to celebrate my birthday and father's day!

And of course my summer wouldn't be complete without our annual vacay to Pawley's! It was a great week to relax and hang out and catch up on all my People magazines and gossip! We had some really cool storms at night which is one of my favorite things at the beach! Other than that it was just a week full of sun, walks, 4th of July parade, yummy seafood, Franks, reading, and of course cornhole! I'm ready to go back like right now! Any takers?! ;)

We're now back in the swing of things with Chris starting back to work the end of July. He's teaching all US History this semester which is a nice break for him having only one prep...this gives him time to plan for his honors economics class he'll have next spring as well as have time for running the Key Club and getting their food drive up and running. And he's got to raise alot of money for the soccer program as they have to make their practice field fully functioning to host games by next season. Seriously?! Any donations are tax-free ;) And of course I've been at work all summer and haven't had time off like some others I know, but we're definitely getting more busy now that school is back in and germs and viruses are spreading like crazy!
